Notice to the Congregation!!

To the Congregation:

I received notice today from Columbia Gas Company that during a routine leak inspection that we have leaks underground and where the old gas pipes come up from the ground. This is a major problem and the gas service to our church has been turned off and the valve locked. We will need to replace all gas lines from the meter that go underground.

The notice states, "Routine building inspection shows multiple gas leaks. Must bring lines up to code. No threaded fittings underground. Any line that goes underground or up through concrete or through a wall must be replaced or sleeved. When all work is completed to code, Columbia Gas Company is to be called for a final inspection. Once approved, the service will be restored."

I will be seeking bids for the work required. Any references for a contractor that can do this work is appreciated. It looks like this will be a major expense. During the time the gas is off, just a reminder that we will have no heat, no hot water, or no use of the stove or dishwasher.

Please bear with the difficulties this presents to our church. I will present more on this on Sunday.
